1. US
News:
On May 29, US President Donald Trump announced that the United
States would end its relationship with the
World Health Organization (WHO) due to its response to the COVID-19 pandemic.
Speaking at a press conference at the White House, President Trump stated: “We
have detailed the reforms the organization needs to implement, but they have
refused to act. Because they have not implemented the required and necessary reforms,
today we will end our relationship with the World Health Organization. ”
In addition, Mr. Trump also said that the United
States would divert the money pledged to
support WHO to other urgent public health needs across the globe, while
stressing the world needs answers from China
about Covid-19 and need transparency.
According to the Guardian newspaper, Governor of Minnesota,
Mr. Tim Walz, on May 28 had to mobilize the national guards to intervene in the
context of Minneapolis , the largest
city of the state, spent the third night in a row with large-scale protests
protesting after the death of George Floyd, a 46-year-old black man.
