The following is the remarkable news most on April 9 as follows:

1. According to the US Department of Labor, as American workers continue to suffer from devastating job losses, and reduce working hours during the coronavirus pandemic, the United States had another 6.6 million people applied for unemployment benefits last week.

The figures at that level are staggering and contrast sharply with any other recorded economic downturn.

The reality is that not only the United States in other countries around the world are facing unemployment and the prospect of the national economy declining in all aspects.

2. Tracking Covid-19 cases in the US.

New York has become the epicenter of the country’s outbreak with 151,079 confirmed cases and 6,268 deaths so far. When adjusted for population, that translates to roughly 777 known cases and 32 deaths for every 100,000 residents.

One of the biggest concerns during the pandemic in US is that hospitals will be overwhelmed, running out of life-saving tools such as ventilators.

3. President Donald Trump strongly criticized the World Health Organization on April 7, accusing WHO of being overly focused on China and making bad recommendations in the corona virus outbreak.

US conservatives are increasingly critical of WHO during the global pandemic, saying the organization relied on erroneous data from China on the corona virus outbreak.

Last week, Republican Congressman Marco Rubio called for WHO Director-General Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus to resign. Republican Senator Martha McSally also called for the WHO head to resign.

Bill Gates nói rằng ông ấy sẽ cố gắng dồn tiền vào xây dựng nhà máy sản xuất cho 7 loại vắc-xin COVID-19 tiềm năng, một công việc có thể phung phí hàng tỷ USD khi chỉ có 2 nhà máy được chọn cuối cùng sẽ đi vào hoạt động.

Gates giải thích rằng đó là bởi ông không muốn tốn thời gian để tìm hiểu xem loại vắc-xin nào thực sự hiệu quả rồi mới đi xây nhà máy sản xuất chúng. Xây cả 7 nhà máy ngay từ bây giờ sẽ tiết kiệm được hàng tháng trời, và vài tỷ USD sẽ sớm cứu được hàng nghìn tỷ bay hơi trong nền kinh tế.

5. Theo bản tin phát lúc 6h ngày 9 tháng 4, của Ban Chỉ đạo Quốc gia phòng chống dịch Covid-19 của Việt Nam thì đến sáng nay không ghi nhận ca mắc mới Covid-19. Như vậy, tròn 24h qua, Việt Nam không có ca bệnh mắc mới. Số ca mắc đến hiện tại là 251 trường hợp.

Như vậy tổng số ca mắc bệnh tại Việt Nam là : 251 trường hợp, trong đó, 156 người từ nước ngoài chiếm 62,6%; 95 người lây nhiễm thứ phát.

6. Trong 24 giờ qua, Đức ghi nhận thêm 4.003 ca nhiễm Covid-19 do virus corona chủng mới gây ra, đưa tổng số ca mắc lên 103.228. Trong khi đó, số ca tử vong tại nước này cũng tăng thêm 254 lên 1.861 ca.

Giới chức Đức khẳng định, các biện pháp áp dụng đang phát huy hiệu quả và sẽ tiếp tục đưa ra đánh giá dựa trên số ca mắc mới theo ngày cũng như số người bị lây nhiễm từ 1 ca bệnh. Hiện cứ 1 ca mắc Covid-19 lại lây cho khoảng 1,3 người và mục tiêu của Đức là đưa con số này giảm xuống dưới 1.

7. Trong ngày 8 tháng 4, Bộ Y tế Tây Ban Nha thông báo dù tỷ lệ tử vong theo ngày có giảm nhẹ, song trong 24 giờ qua, nước này đã ghi nhận thêm 757 người tử vong do mắc Covid-19.

Tính đến nay, Tây Ban Nha đã ghi nhận 14.555 người tử vong do Covid-19. Tỷ lên tử vong theo ngày hiện là 5,5%, giảm 0,2% so với một ngày trước đó. Số ca mắc Covid-19 mới tại Tây Ban Nha cũng tăng thêm 146.690, đưa tổng số người mắc bệnh 140.510.

Tuy nhiên, Bộ trưởng Hunt cảnh báo rằng số người mắc bệnh có thể gia tăng đáng kể, nếu người dân không tuân thủ các quy định giãn cách xã hội.

9. Theo Bộ Y tế và phúc lợi gia đình Ấn Độ, số người nhiễm virus SARS-CoV-2 ở nước này đã tăng lên 5.194 ca, trong đó có 149 ca tử vong do Covid-19.

Maharashtra đã trở thành bang đầu tiên của Ấn Độ ghi nhận hơn 1.000 ca dương tính với virus corona. Bộ trưởng Y tế Romania Nelu Tataru nêu rõ mẹ các bé đều âm tính với virus SARS-CoV-2, nên nhà chức trách đang xem xét khả năng các bé bị lây nhiễm do tiếp xúc với các nhân viên y tế. Các bé đều không có biểu hiện mắc bệnh và hầu như tất cả đã cùng cách ly với mẹ tại nhà.

Theo Bộ trưởng Tataru, vụ việc cho thấy sự yếu kém trong hoạt động của các nhân viên khoa sản và giám đốc y tế địa phương.

Vụ việc càng làm tăng lo ngại về năng lực của hệ thống y tế Romania trước đại dịch Covid-19. Các nhân viên y tế nước này đã than phiền về việc thiếu hụt thiết bị y tế. Tại Romania, hiện có hơn 4.400 ca nhiễm và 180 ca tử vong do Covid-19.

11. Theo số liệu của Trung tâm bảo vệ sức khỏe (CHP) của Đặc khu hành chính Hong Kong (Trung Quốc), tính đến ngày 6 tháng 4, trong số 915 trường hợp nhiễm Covid-19 ở đặc khu này có 150 trường hợp không có triệu chứng bệnh, chiếm 16%.

Tính riêng từ đầu tháng 4 đến nay, Hong Kong đã có thêm 200 trường hợp nhiễm covid 19, trong đó có 47 trường hợp không có triệu chứng, bao gồm 1 trường hợp là du học sinh ở Anh trở về Hong Kong, sau khi đã hoàn thành cách ly tại nhà 14 ngày, đến ngày thứ 19 mới có kết quả dương tính với covid 19.

12. Bộ Y tế Tây Ban Nha ngày 9 tháng 4 thông báo, nước này ghi nhận thêm 683 ca tử vong do bệnh Covid-19 trong một ngày qua, giảm so với hai ngày trước đó. Như vậy, tổng số ca tử vong do đại dịch tại Tây Ban Nha đã lên tới 15.238 người còn tổng số ca nhiễm virus corona chủng mới đã tăng lên 152.446 người, từ mức 146.690 người trong ngày 8/4.

Thủ tướng Tây Ban Nha Pedro Sanchez ngày 9 tháng 4 tuyên bố, những số liệu mới nhất liên quan tới dịch Covid-19 tại Tây Ban Nha rất đáng khích lệ và tình hình dịch bệnh tại nước này chuẩn bị bước vào giai đoạn thuyên giảm.
