New York has become the epicenter of the country’s outbreak
with 92,743 confirmed cases and 2,473 deaths so far. When adjusted for
population, that translates to roughly 477 known cases for every 100,000
residents.
But experts say those numbers don’t give the whole picture
because many cases — including mild or asymptomatic infections — have not been
diagnosed.
2. Total global number of COVID-19 cases has exceeded the
one million mark with more than 52,000 deaths.
About 700,000 cases worldwide have mild symptoms and nearly
38,000 cases are in critical condition. In addition, more than 200,000 people
have recovered.
People in Western countries began to be asked to wear masks
to prevent the spread of the disease.
3. Korea news:
Yonhap cited data from the Korea Centers for Disease Control
and Prevention (KCDC), which said that 3-4 countries recorded COVID-19 and 5
deaths more on the same day.
The total number of existing cases is 10,062, the number of
deaths is 174. Out of 174 deaths, over 50% are patients over 80 years of age
and have at least one pre-existing condition.
The number of patients completely cured was 193, bringing
the total to 6,021 people, accounting for 59.8%.
4. Germany News: Figures from the Robert Koch Epidemiology
Institute (RKI) on April 3 show that the number of corona virus infections in
Germany has increased by 6,174 cases compared to the previous day, with an
increase of 145 deaths.
In total, Germany has 79,696 cases of Covid virus 19 and
1,017 deaths.
Currently the demand for protective clothing, medical gloves
and glasses for eye protection is increasing but supplies in Germany are very
scarce. The competition to buy these products between German states is causing
prices to soar. Because the state cannot provide these products, states must
find their own way.
5. Italian News:
Italy recorded 760 more deaths and 4,668 new cases on 2-4
days. Thus, Italy has nearly 14,000 deaths on more than 115,000 cases of new
strains of corona virus.
At least 12 Italian priests have died of corona virus
infection.
The corona outbreak has hit the heart of Italian industry,
causing many factories to close and threaten to weaken the European economy.
More than 12% of Italian exports are sold in Germany, many
of which are auto parts and components. If Italian factories have production
difficulties, this could cause factories in Germany and across Europe to stall
because of a shortage of components.
6. The COVID-19 epidemic has spread to at least 600 nursing
homes across Canada, putting enormous pressure on health-care workers on the
front lines of the pandemic. At least 75 deaths have been attributed to New
strain of corona virus is resident of nursing facility in Canada. Pinecrest
Nursing Home in Ontario is one of the "outbreaks" with 14 elderly
deaths.
Quebec's governor, François Legault, has warned people not
to visit nursing homes because "this is a problem between life and
death". Ontario Health Minister Christine Elliott said the state could
send elderly people to hotels to isolate themselves from nursing home cases.
7. On April 3, Singapore Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong
announced that it would close schools from April 8 and most workplaces from
April 7, as part of stricter measures to prevent Covid 19 spread. The new
measures will be applied for at least 1 month, according to Today Online.
Singapore has had some social separation measures since the
beginning of the epidemic to prevent the spread, but has still allowed schools
and offices to open. With the new measure, Singapore has taken actions similar
to some other Southeast Asian countries such as Thailand and Malaysia to limit
the movement of people.
According to the Prime Minister of Singapore, if no more
stringent measures are taken, the situation of Covid 19 in Singapore could be
worse. Currently, Singapore has recorded 1,114 infections and 5 deaths due to
Covid 19.
8. The COVID-19 picture in China is split in two: one side
is a positive sign from the number of cases to the production situation, and
one side is the skepticism about the future, which is at risk. to the second
outbreak.
New developments in China have shown anxiety about a second
wave of outbreaks in the country. The top news is that Giap district of Henan
province in central China this week has been completely sealed off and nearly
600,000 people here will have to stay indoors.
Stricter measures were taken after 3 doctors at a local
hospital were positive for the new strain of coronavirus despite no symptoms.
The blockade of a district of more than half a million
people is unusual in the context that many places in China are beginning to
relax their travel restrictions. Writing on the move, The Week magazine said:
"China is preparing to welcome a second wave of COVID-19".
